Lyrics

The Price of Hay

My brother and his wife, they've got a couple of kids
I always thought I might but I never did
They live up the road a couple miles or so
Sometimes when I get lonely I'll stop by for a cup of joe

And we talk about politics and pain
How the price of hay is dependent upon the rain
And what will we do when they try to take our guns away
But mostly we just talk about the price of hay

We get up and go outside as she puts the kids to bed
Stare out across the field as the sun sinks low and red
It don't look bad so far I guess we'll have to wait and see
Pray for rain, hope for sun what will be will be

And we talk about politics and pain
How the price of hay is dependent upon the rain
And what will we do when they try to take our guns away
But mostly we just talk about the price of hay

My brother and I went hunting the other day
It had been forever because sometimes life gets in the way
We found the cabin we built when dad was still around
I think we'd both agree we were standing on hallowed ground

And we talk about politics and pain
How the price of hay is dependent upon the rain
And what will we do when they try to take our guns away
But mostly we just talk about the price of hay
